Groundbreaking ceremony for new building

The groundbreaking ceremony in March 2023 now formally marked the start of an extensive new building project at halstrup-walcher GmbH. The measurement and drive technology specialist based in Kirchzarten has recorded solid growth in recent financial years and now employs around 200 people. In order to be able to continue its growth course, the company is investing in a new building on existing land. Instead of a storehouse, which has already been removed, a multi-floor company building is being constructed to provide additional production and administration space

An area for expansion has been requested from the municipality of Kirchzarten for 10 years, but the company has not been offered an expansion area to date. In order to be able to maintain the location in the Dreisamtal region in Southwest Germany, the shareholders have decided to first make maximum use of the existing property in Kirchzarten with a new building - despite the higher construction costs compared to surrounding communities.

A good demand from customers in the mechanical and plant engineering sector for halstrup-walcher's positioning systems and measurement technology solutions has resulted in scarce space.

With around 2000 square meters of production space as well as 700 square meters of office space, the additional area needed for both production and administration is being created. Furthermore, an underground garage for bicycles and cars as well as a canteen for the employees are planned. The company's sustainability goals are also being pursued with an extensive energy concept, which includes the use of geothermal energy and a solar power system.

says Jürgen Walcher, who manages the company together with Christian Sura. Nevertheless, he hopes that the area request to the municipality will receive a positive response in the future.
